Fiscal Council, the guardian of public finances

Ljubljana, 21 March - The appointment of the three members of the Fiscal Council on Tuesday marks the end of a long process of putting tighter reigns on government budget planning. Its job will be to oversee the implementation of the fiscal rule, which requires budgets to be balanced or in surplus in all but the most extraordinary circumstances.
