Recreation calendar offering some interesting events this week
Brdo pri Kranju, 6 September - This week's recreational events of note include a run around the government estate in Brdo pri Kranju, a running and hiking event near the deepest mine shaft in the former Yugoslavia and a cycling trip around the city of Maribor that includes a stop in a botanical garden.
According to the organisers, the Triglav Run is the only run taking place within the area of the Slovenian government's main venue for diplomatic meetings in Brdo pri Kranju in north-western Slovenia.
Participants of the 6th Triglav Run can choose among the main, 21-km run, a 10-km run, a 3.4-km family run, a 3x3.4-km business relay run and a 400-m run for children.
Those who would like to take a more difficult route can join the 3rd Kotredež Trail, a running and hiking event which will take them "along the paths that little people know about", the organisers say.
Kotredež, located in the "heart of Slovenia, in the Zagorje Valley", is a small idyllic village, which was known in the times of Yugoslavia for the deepest mine shaft in the former country.
Toti pecikl (This Bicycle) is meanwhile a cycling event which will take its participants from Maribor to the Rače Ponds, south of Slovenia's second largest city, and back.
The event includes a short stop in the TAL2000 botanical garden, where the cyclists will be able to take a look at various exotic plants, rocks and minerals.
