Kayaker Kauzer wins bronze at world championships
Pau, 29 September - Slovenia's Peter Kauzer won the bronze medal in the men's kayak (K1) slalom at the Canoe Slalom and Wildwater Canoeing World Championships in France's Pau on Friday, bringing his individual world championship medal tally to three.
Kauzer had the best time in the final, but was given two penalty seconds to finish third, 0.29 seconds behind the winner, Ondrej Tunka of the Czech Republic, and 0.27 seconds behind the second-placed Czech Vit Prindis.
For the 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist, this is the third medal in individual competitions at world championships, after gold medals in La Seu d'Urgell in 2009 and in Bratislava in 2011.
Kauzer has two world championship medals in team competitions - bronze in Penrith in 2005 and bronze he won with Martin Srabotnik and Žan Jakše at the ongoing competition in Pau on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old, who is by far the most successful Slovenian kayaker ever, also has eight medals at European championships, including five golds.
