Borut Pahor, an incumbent used to overcoming setbacks

Ljubljana, 22 October - Incumbent President Borut Pahor won the first round of the presidential election on Sunday but fell short of an outright majority despite polls indicating he sweep the first round. He will have to contest a run-off in three weeks against Marjan Šarec, the mayor of Kamnik.

To win another five-year term in office, President Borut Pahor will have to face off the mayor of Kamnik in the 12 November run-off.
