Ljubljana awarded WTM Responsible Tourism Award for communication
London, 11 November - Ljubljana has been recognised as the best for communication at London's World Travel Market (WTM), one of the biggest events of the travel industry. According to the city's tourism board, the Responsible Tourism Award makes Slovenia's capital one of the top global sustainable destinations.
The award in the category for communication is a recognition of Ljubljana's efforts in sustainable development of the city, Turizem Ljubljana boss Petra Stušek said upon receiving the award in London on Wednesday.
She added that the award, established in 2004, affirmed Ljubljana's position in sustainable destinations, and committed it to following its goals in quality of life for citizens and visitors alike.
The judging panel, whose head Harold Goodwin praised Ljubljana for the results it had achieved in a short time, selected the Slovenian capital among 12 finalists, of which only three were from Europe, Turizem Ljubljana said in a press release.
Ljubljana convinced the panel with its promotion of sustainable mobility, by following national green policies, and with efforts to improve the lives of citizens by managing the flow of tourists and expanding its offer to the surrounding region.
