This year, Winter Urban Gladiator takes place in the ski resort of Kope above the town of Slovenj Gradec (N) on Saturday.

It is a team challenge intended for participants of all age groups regardless of their fitness levels, who will take different routes of different lengths to get around various obstacles.

"Result is not of primary importance, what is in focus is team-building and socialising. The events are very entertaining and interesting for both participants and observers," the organisers say. More information: www.fatburn.si

Taking place in mine shafts between Trbovlje and Hrastnik (E), the Winter Caveathlon 2017 on Saturday is an event paying tribute to the mining tradition in Slovenia.

With mining helmets on their heads, the participants will form teams which will battle a 5.5-km path, which will feature various obstacles and will have "a touch of mining".

The challenge is about testing your own abilities, and it is not important who is the fastest. The team which comes the closest to the mean time will be declared the winner", the organisers say. More information at: www.jamatlon.si
