Kolektor takes over Microtel, becomes one of top global car sensor makers

Idrija, 29 November - Industrial conglomerate Kolektor took over Microtel Group, an Italian group making electronic modules and sensors, on Wednesday. The acquisition complements Kolektor's portfolio of electronics for cars, and makes the conglomerate one of the biggest global makers of these components and related system, the company said.

No details of the deal were revealed in the press release. The company only said that it aimed to reach EUR 1bn in turnover by 2020 and in order to do this it pursued a policy of acquisitions.

Microtel Group produces special electronics and sensors using the technology of ceramics printed circuit boards. Microtel Group's key products are pressure sensors and combined pressure-temperature sensors for the automotive industry, said Kolektor.

"This field has the biggest synergy potential with our programmes and the highest added value of the acquisition," said the press release.

Microtel's production lines are based in Italy and Germany (Siegert Electronics). It has offices in France and China and employs 350 people. The group generates more than EUR 45m in turnover annually.
