Run across Ljubljanica bridges, take a 100-km challenge
Ljubljana/Ajdovščina, 5 December - Amateur sports events of note this week include a run across the bridges across the Ljubljanica river in the capital and a 100-km challenge in Ajdovčina in western Slovenia along the Vipava river.
The KvadraTEK Run across Ljubljanica Bridges will be held on Tuesday evening, starting in Tivoli Park in Ljubljana.
"Join us for one of the most special runs in the season, in which colourful lights will follow us in every step we make, and let's visit the bridges and footbridges over the Ljubljanica while running", the organisers say.
The route is 10 kilometres long and the tempo will be suitable for everyone. More information at: www.kvadratek.si
Dubbed A 100 along the Cold River, it is the first event of the kind in Slovenia, taking place on Saturday in Ajdovščina in the west of the country.
"Welcome to the premiere running event, which Slovenia has never seen before," say the organisers, a local sport association.
The main event is a 100-kilometre run, accompanied by shorter runs of 75 and 50 kilometres. Participants in all three distances can also form relays or teams.
A relay consists of five runners, of which at least two women, each running one fifth of the total distance. A team consists of three runners who run the entire length together. More information at: http://tekacivipavskedoline.si/100-ob-mrzli-reki/
Those who would like to compete but run a shorter distance are meanwhile invited to the 13th St Barbara Relay, taking place on Sunday around a local football stadium and Lake Škale near Velenje in northern Slovenia.
Competing will be mixed relay teams of four (at least one woman), with each individual running a lap of 3,250 metres. More information at: https://www.facebook.com/events/742197865981452/
