Learn winter mountaineering techniques, run on skis
Kamnik/Pokljuka, 13 December - Those who would like recreation and are not afraid of the cold are invited this weekend to join a course of winter mountaineering techniques in the Slovenian Alps or learn or improve their skills in cross-country skiing on the Pokljuka plateau (NE).
The course of winter mountaineering techniques will be held on Saturday on the peaks of the Julian Alps or Kamnik-Savinja Alps, depending on weather conditions.
As part of the one-day course, you will be acquainted with mountaineering equipment, learn about orientation and train techniques which will help you remain safe when mountaineering in winter time.
These include walking with crampons in various inclinations and conditions, the use of ice axe, testing the hardness of the snow cover, using an avalanche beacon and looking for people buried in an avalanche.

On the same day, a ski association from Ljubljana will host a course of cross-country skiing near Hotel Šport on the Pokljuka plateau, for all who are "interested in running and walking on skis and would like to learn the first steps or improve their skill".
In addition to learning the classic and skating technique, the participants will be able to test the equipment of various producers.
