Slovenia joined Schengen area a decade ago

Ljubljana, 21 December - Ten years to the day, Slovenia joined the Schengen border-free area along with eight other EU member states. Passport controls on internal borders were abolished, but not for long; the migration crisis brought back border checks and the Schengen zone faces its biggest challenge yet.
