Santa run, jump into sea on festive-season menu

Ljubljana, 26 December - There will be plenty of opportunities for recreationalists to get some exercise during the festive season until 1 January. Those keen on dressing up will get an opportunity to run in Santa's costume, while the bravest will jump into the ice-cold sea on New Year's Day.

Santa Clause Run

Those who love to run will be able to dress up in Santa Clause costume to run twice around Črnava Lake near Preddvor, some 10 km north-east of Kranj, on Tuesday at 3 PM.

During the run, Santas will get four fun tasks to perform at the finish line in front of Bor Hotel.

2017 Dolsko Run

However, no Santa costume will be needed for the 28th New Year's run in the village of Dolsko, some 20 km north-east of Ljubljana.

Starting at 10:30 AM, children will be able to take a 300-metre or 500-metre route, whereas experienced runners will have three routes at their disposal (4.5 km, 10 km and 14.5 km).

New Year's Cycling with Marko Baloh

Just before ushering in 2018, cycling enthusiasts will be able to join ultra-marathon cyclist Marko Baloh on 30 December for the seventh New Year's 158-km cycling tour.

The event is also meant to celebrate Baloh's 18th season in ultra-cycling.

The tour starts at 8:30 AM in front of the Sport Association in the town of Sežana, but only if the weather is fine.

Jump into the Sea

Regardless of bad weather, the bravest will jump into the cold sea in Portorož on 1 January 2018, in what will be the 14th New Year's Jump into the Sea.

The number of those wishing to get a cold swim will be limited, with jumps performed in groups of 100 in five-minute intervals.
