In Slovenia, chicken shunned on New Year's Day

Ljubljana, 1 January - New Year's customs among Slovenians, known for celebrating every major holiday with the traditional potica cake, include a number of food-related beliefs. Most importantly, New Year's should be celebrated with pork, which brings luck, but never with poultry.
