Slovenian MEP mentioned as possible new Socialist leader

Brussels, 30 January - Slovenian MEP Tanja Fajon is being mentioned as a potential successor to Gianni Pittella at the helm of the Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) in the European Parliament, after Pittella announced he will contest the Italian election. Fajon confirmed on Tuesday her colleagues had asked her to consider a bid.
