Pipistrel partners up with Uber to develop electric planes

Slovenian ultralight plane maker Pipistrel has teamed up with US ride-hailing company Uber to develop electric aircraft for personal transportation in big cities. The two companies plan to unveil the first demonstration planes by 2020.

Parliament passes Mercator crisis law

The National Assembly passed on Tuesday a law designed to prevent the diversion of funds from systemically important companies, a response to reports that Croatian conglomerate Agrokor is siphoning funds from its Slovenian retail subsidiary Mercator.

ECHR says auctioning off home over EUR 124 bill disproportionate

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that the sale of a Slovenian citizen's home in a court-ordered auction due to an unpaid utility bill had involved a disproportionate interference with his property rights. It ordered that Zoran Vaskrsić be paid EUR 85,000 in damages.

Book released of Šalamun's poetry illustrated by his wife

A collection of poems by acclaimed poet Tomaž Šalamun (1941-2014) selected and illustrated by his wife, painter Metka Krašovec, was presented in Ljubljana on Tuesday. Whispering, published by Mladinska knjiga, features poems dedicated to her and their love story and some of Šalamun's favourite poems.

Parliament slated to pass Lex Mercator

The National Assembly is expected to pass on Tuesday a bill designed to prevent the diversion of funds from systemically important companies, a piece of legislation known as Lex Mercator.
