Tonin resigns, Židan appointed new speaker
Ljubljana, 23 August - Dejan Židan, the 50-year-old leader of the Social Democrats, was appointed the 13th speaker of Slovenia's National Assembly on Thursday, after interim Speaker Matej Tonin of the conservative New Slovenia (NSi) resigned in line with an agreement made beforehand with the emerging centre-left coalition.
