Describing Slovenia's capital as "small but perfectly formed", BBC Good Food says that Ljubljana has "hipster coffee spots and killer burger joints but also cosy old country restaurants where rustic cuisine reigns supreme".

Recommending dishes such as pršut (air-dried ham), žlikrofi (a ravioli-like pasta), and gibanica cake, the BBC's food section also mentions the star chef Ana Roš.

The other Top 10 foodie destinations for 2019 are Matera in Italy, Amsterdam, the South Aegean islands in Greece, Yorkshire in the UK, Corsica, Pittsburgh in the US, as well as Japan, Peru and Ethiopia.
