Pivotal step to Slovenia's independence taken 30 years ago

Ljubljana, 7 May - Slovenia took a key step toward its independence 30 years ago as a declaration demanding the country's sovereignty was read out at a mass rally in Ljubljana held in support of a group jailed by Yugoslav authorities for allegedly disclosing military secrets. One of them was Janez Janša.

The memorial plaque unveiled 25 years after the start of the infamous military trial that sparked off demands for Slovenia's independence.
