An average West European couple is well above 25 years of age when they have their first child, while in Holland the average has already gone beyond 30. A similar trend is present in Slovenia, although the average age of women giving birth to their first child is still somewhat lower, showed a survey on the position of women in Slovenia in the period between 1990 and 1995, published by the government's Office for Women Policy.
