Private school funding cuts not passed

Ljubljana, 18 July - The National Assembly failed to override a veto by the National Council of the legislative changes cutting funds for private primary schools. An absolute majority of 46 votes is required to pass the legislation that had been vetoed by the upper chamber and the government was three votes short in Thursday's vote.

Slovenian primary school children (in sixth and ninth grades) will not be taking the nation-wide exams this year.
