The visit of Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi to Slovenia and the closely following visit of Deputy Chamber Speaker Luciano Violante were significant acts confirming an improvement in relations between two countries that were known mainly for mutual disputes, misunderstanding and coldness even a year ago. Slovenia and Italy are now building their future in the spirit of close cooperation, reciprocity and mutual interests, which was confirmed during the above-mentioned visits. There are, however, two basic reasons that have brought about the change in policy, the daily Primorski dnevnik stresses in its Sunday issue.
