Ljubljana Castle gets its own wine bar

Ljubljana, 4 September - Ljubljana Castle is already one of the most popular tourist attractions in Slovenia but now visitors will have one more reason to climb Castle Hill: a wine bar will open Wednesday evening as the latest addition to the castle's wine story.

A 220 square metre space below the Estates Hall has been renovated and a terrace covering 75 square metres has been built on the castle's bastion to accommodate the wine bar and store.

The wine store will hold more than 200 Slovenian wines from all wine-growing regions, with some of them being part of wine tastings.

The wine bar comes two years after the opening of the castle vineyard, an effort to restore the wine tradition on Castle Hill.

There are 1050 grapevines in the vineyard, 500 whites and 550 reds.

Both types have been selected by the Agriculture Institute experts and will add to the castle's product portfolio.
