Commissioner-to-be Lenarčič quits diplomatic service in apparent protest

Ljubljana, 25 October - Slovenia's likely new European Commissioner Janez Lenarčič, a diplomat who has worked for the Foreign Ministry since 1992, has handed in his resignation in what seems a move made out of protest against a legal requirement, which, in his opinion, deters Slovenian diplomats from taking jobs in international institutions.
