Parliamentary debate shows extra powers for army not likely soon

Ljubljana, 26 May - The coalition and opposition remained on opposite banks on Tuesday in a debate on whether to activate a legal provision giving limited police powers to the army to enhance border protection. The plenary was limited to a debate, since the government motion failed to muster the required two-thirds majority on the Defence Committee in April.
