Remote schooling
"Pupils and parents sick and tired of distance learning": Children with special needs are returning to classroom learning after Slovenia was one of the first countries to close schools some two months ago. Pupils of the first three grades of primary school might go back to school next week depending on the epidemiological situation. (front page, page 3)
Ljubljana
"Cyclists and Cukrarna Gallery": The paper looks at the completed and ongoing revamping projects in Ljubljana following New Year's, noting that a third of grants intended for the city's upgrade will go into setting up bike lanes on the renovated streets. (front page, page 11)
WikiLeaks
"Court prevents Assange's extradition": Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, may be released on bail soon if the Old Bailey, which ruled yesterday he cannot be extradited to the US, decides that he is not a flight risk. (front page, page 5)

Testing
"Some did not get to have a rapid test yesterday": According to Dnevnik sources, some 250 of those queuing for a rapid test in Ljubljana were sent home because of insufficient testing capacities. A health centre said the demand was above expectations. (front page, page 2)
Housing
"EUR 21 million for the Ljubljana housing fund in three years": The Ljubljana municipality budget drafts for this year and the next two years propose stepped up funding for the Ljubljana housing fund. (front page, page 8)
Vaccination
"Vaccination: Whom to prioritise?": Some of those aged above 80 and not residing in care homes are already being asked about their vaccinations preferences, however guidelines for drawing up priority lists are causing problems for health workers since they are not clear enough. (front page, page 3)

Property auctions
"12 houses you could buy at auction by end of January": The paper lists all the houses that will be auctioned until the end of January, adding their prices and the time and venue of the bidding. The starting prices are as low as EUR 60,000. (front page, pages 12, 13)
Banks
"Which bankers are considering deposit fees for individuals besides NLB's Blaž Brodnjak?": It seems that a number of Slovenian banks are thinking about introducing deposit fees, however not a single one of them wants to be first in that respect. (front page, pages 2, 3)
Loans
"Microloans for areas with high unemployment rate available again": Small and mid-sized companies could get up to EUR 25,000 in soft microloans. The paper analyses which companies can ask for such loans and under which conditions. (front page, page 4)

Domestic violence
"Family tragedies on the rise": The paper notes that the number of murders or murder attempts more than doubled last year compared to 2019. Also, 2020 saw three triple murders, an unprecedented record since Slovenia's independence. Most such crimes occurred in the family environment and domestic violence has been on the rise. Healthcare
"Healthcare between SDS and NSi": Both the Democrats (SDS) and New Slovenia (NSi) are interested in taking over the helm of the Health Ministry after Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) departure from the coalition. (front page, page 2)
Restrictions
"Strict restrictions for recreational sports": Gyms and pool complexes are gradually reopening, however prevention measures are very strict and might prevent them from making any profit. Ski centres are struggling as well. (front page, page 5)
