Youth unemployment
"Young out on a limb in labour market": Young job seekers who are not in the select group of sought-after professions during the epidemic are in a difficult situation. At the end of January almost 19,000 youth were out of a job, 3,000 more than a year ago. (front page, page 3)

"Dusty court files": Due to coronavirus curbs, courts resolved about 13% fewer cases last year and the number of pending cases at the end of the year was up by 7.6% from the same period last year, early data show. (front page, page 3)
Coronavirus
"Slowly but steadily to tier yellow": Data on coronavirus infections and Covid-19 hospitalisations in recent days raise hope that we could soon move to yellow tier of restrictions. (front page)
Biathlon World Championship
"Parting with Pokljuka, Fak close to medal": As the lively Biathlon World Championship came to a close on the Pokljuka plateau, only the icing on the cake was missing - a medal for the home ace Jakov Fak. He placed 5th yesterday. (front page, pages 11, 12)

Biathlon World Championship
"Jakov Fak misses medal in final lap": The curtain has dropped on the 52nd Biathlon World Championship on Pokljuka. Team Slovenia saw their biggest success on the final day of the competition as Jakov Fak came very close to a medal in the prestigious race of the best of 30, but slacked off in the final lap to place 5th. Compulsory retirement
"Even employers doubt the measure": Employers welcome the right to send employees who meet old age pension conditions and whom they no longer need into retirement, but they doubt the measure could substantially stimulate new employment. (front page, page 2)
Ljubljana road infrastructure
"Motorway-sized new crossroads by Ilirija?": According to Ljubljana city plans linked to the renovation of the Ilirija swimming centre, Celovška Road could expand into six lanes at the crossroads with Tivolska, Bleiweisova and Gosposvetska at the expense of a yellow lane for buses and areas for pedestrians and cyclists. Social security cap

Spade of the Year
"He succeeded because he dared": Ivan Lorenčič, the headteacher of a Maribor high school, won the annual Spade of the Year award for best quote: "You can succeed in life only when you dare, and sometimes you also need to take some risk." (front page, pages 2, 3)
Administrative unit head dismissal
"I got the sack over Thompson": Srečko Đurov, speaking in an interview with Večer, says he was dismissed as the head of the Maribor Administrative Unit because of his decision to ban a concert by the controversial Croatian nationalist singer Thompson, something that Public Administration Minister Boštjan Koritnik, who dismissed him, has denied. "He's not admitting to shooting at police officers": At the pre-trial hearing Rok Majerič pleaded not guilty to the charge of attacking police patrols with an air rifle in Šoštanj in November last year. (front page, page 12)
