Daily headlines - Friday, 2 April
Ljubljana, 2 April - Below is a review of the headlines in Slovenian dailies for Friday, 2 April:
DELO
Vaccination
"Vaccination more key than government measures": Experts say that immunisation, both by getting a jab or recovering from Covid-19, will play a more important role in tackling the epidemic than the circuit-breaker lockdown. (front page, pages 3, 4, 7)
Teleworking
"Business premises vacated": Companies are expressing intention to keep teleworking a part of their businesses even after the epidemic. The situation impacts the commercial real estate market. (front page, page 9)
Far right
"Orban's new alliance": After breaking off from the EPP, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban hosted Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki and the head of the Northern League Matteo Salvini in what is considered by many the first step towards consolidation of the EU's extreme right. (front page, page 5)
Celebrities
"Naomi sparked a storm in Krvavec": The newspaper joined for a day a film crew making a film about a daring one-woman mountain rescue mission and starring Naomi Watts. Filming took place in secret in Ljubljana and Krvavec. (front page, page 17)

Vaccination/Ljubljana
"Kacin for more premises, Janković wants vaccine": Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković and the Ljubljana Community Health Centre say there are enough vaccination venues in the capital, warning that the government should instead provide the ordered vaccines. (front page, page 3)
Childcare
"Taking care of a child or following a government decree": The heads of kindergartens faced a dilemma yesterday: to provide much needed childcare or comply with the government decree. They find lockdown childcare lacking and causing problems for parents and children. (front page, page 4)
Vaccination
"Stinginess cost us 240,000 doses": Since Slovenia ordered merely 80.3% of the pro rata Pfizer vaccine volumes, its mid-2021 deliveries will be down by 240,000 doses, show data by the Committee of Permanent Representatives. The paper says 70% inoculation by summer is thus impossible. (front page, page 2)
VEČER
Border restrictions
"Locked into the country": Slovenia entered the third lockdown yesterday as many had trouble to either leave or enter the country. Stepped up border restrictions have been already challenged at the Constitutional Court. (front page, pages 4, 5)
Self-testing
"Self-testing for students soon": The authorities are expected to introduce self-testing protocols for students, first in secondary schools and then in final grades of primary school, to allow for reopening of schools. (front page, page 2)
DeSUS
"Breakups in DeSUS": The paper takes a look at the situation in the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) and wonders whether it could find a way out of a crisis within its ranks and in ratings. (front page, page 3)
