The Ljubljana Airport hosted a ceremony on Monday to mark the launch of scheduled flights between Ljubljana and Madrid by Spain's Iberia. The new route to be operated twice a week is the fourth one secured as part of a state subsidy scheme to enhance Slovenia's air connectivity.

The heavy rain and winds that hit Slovenia on Sunday afternoon mostly affected the north and northeast of the country, flooding buildings, toppling trees and uncovering roofs. A local road between Zagorje and Litija is blocked by a landslide and another landslide is threatening a house in the Žalec municipality.
