Labour market
"Record number of Slovenians employed": Slovenia has had a record number of people in work every month since July; in September 906,434 out of 2,095,861 Slovenians were in paid employment. Staff shortages are an increasing problem for employers. (front page, page 9)

Theatre director's resignation
"Resignation over minister": Igor Samobor stepped down irrevocably as director of the SNG Drama Ljubljana theatre yesterday over what he described as indifference by Culture Minister Vasko Simoniti, who has halted renovation of the crumbling theatre building. (front page, page 15)

Ouster motion against justice minister
"Dikaučič staying on not necessarily bad": After the motion of no confidence in Justice Minister Marjan Dikaučič failed to muster sufficient support in parliament, two more such motions are due for debate with 152 days to go to the April general election. A former justice minister, Aleš Zalar, says it may be better Dikaučič is staying on or else PM Janez Janša might have temporarily taken over at the ministry. (front page, page 2)

Slovenia-Croatia ties
"Janša and Plenković return to history": The prime ministers of Slovenia and Croatia, Janez Janša and Andrej Plenković, have unveiled a memorial plaque to independence times, emphasizing good relations. Meanwhile, implementation of the arbitration award is not on the bilateral agenda. (front page, page 3)

Covid-19
"NBI: Epidemic spread by protesters": In an investigation directly involving its director Petra Grah Lazar, the National Bureau of Investigation is looking for evidence in support of PM Janez Janša's suspicion that protesters contributed to the Covid-19 outbreak. (front page, page 3)

Sawn-off hand trial
"She admitted: she didn't saw off her hand by accident": After an unexpected twist which saw all four defendants plead guilty, the sawn-off hand trial ended nearly three years after the bloody deed. Julija Adlešič and Sebastien Abramov were sentenced to prison sentences which they have almost fully served out already, while his parents were given suspended sentences. (front page, page 12)

Real estate
"Commercial property market has come to life too": The market of commercial properties is recovering from last year's falls with the number of transactions picking up. The paper takes a look at upcoming property auctions. (front page, pages 12, 13)

Telecomms
"KKR would acquire Telekom Italia, how much would Telekom Slovenije be worth?": The financial fund KKR has offered 50 cents per share of Telecom Italia, which values the company at EUR 35 billion including debt. If Telekom Slovenije was valued at the same multiplier it would be hypothetically be worth EUR 697.5 million. (front page, page 5)

Taxes
"FURS will collect even more than before Covid. Why?": In the first ten months of the year the Financial Administration (FURS) collected almost as much tax as in the whole of last year and 8.7% more than in the first ten months of the pre-Covid year 2019. Main reasons include higher pay in the state administration and price hikes. (front page, pages 2,3)

Electronic toll collection
"Electronic tolling coming": Starting from December, electronic vignettes will start replacing toll stickers, which remain in use until the end of January next year. (front page, page 3)

Slovenia-Croatia ties
"Solution to disputes announced": Meeting in Otočec, the prime ministers of Slovenia and Croatia, Janez Janša and Andrej Plenković, announced the countries' intention to solve open issues in a friendly atmosphere. (front page, pages 2, 5)

Sawn-off hand trial
"Guilty plea in sawn-off hand case": After an unexpected twist, the defendants in the insurance fraud case pleaded guilty in retrial; Julija Adlešič was sentenced to a year and seven months in prison and her partner Sebastien Abramov to two years and a half, while his parents got suspended sentences.
