German-speaking community in Slovenia talks culture preservation

Ljubljana, 6 December - A task force dedicated to promoting sustainable dialogue with the representatives of the German-speaking community in Slovenia was in session for the second time on Monday. The focus was on the community's initiatives, including those to preserve their culture and language in education, the Culture Ministry said.

The meeting, chaired by Minister Vasko Simoniti, also focused on media support, funding for cultural projects and cross-border cooperation in culture, the ministry said in a press release.

They agreed that the working group was an important starting point for finding solutions or answers to open issues of the ethnic community. Depending on the content of the initiatives, experts from various fields will be involved in future discussions, the release added.

In addition to the ministry's representatives, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the foreign and education ministries.
