Jaklitsch talks efforts to promote Slovenian companies abroad
Ljubljana, 7 December - Minister for Slovenians Abroad Helena Jaklitsch discussed economic cooperation with Slovenians abroad and among them at an online meeting with business representatives on Monday. The participants agreed that such collaboration unlocked great potential for promotion of Slovenian companies at home and abroad.
The meeting, which came after Jaklitsch held a number of meetings with individual organisations, was aimed at networking and an introductory presentation of their work and activities.
The meeting was attended by, among others, Mitja Gorenšček, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Danijel Lamperger, director general of the Chamber of Trade Crafts and Small Business, and the director of the investment promotion agency SPIRIT Slovenija, Tomaž Kostanjevec.
Moreover, the heads and members of Slovenian commerce chambers in Australia, Brazil and Argentina took part in the meeting, reads a press release by the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad.
Apart from the office's representatives, the meeting also featured officials from the foreign and economy ministries as well as Slovenian ambassadors to Argentina and Brazil.
The participants agree that cooperation with successful businessmen and businesswomen of Slovenian origin who are active abroad has a great potential for mutual efforts to strengthen and promote Slovenian companies in Slovenia and in international markets, the release says.
Such cooperation is "useful and even indispensable" for Slovenians living abroad or in their homeland, they said.
Interest in this type of collaboration is very high, said the office, adding that the meeting also called for the efforts to foster economic ties between the homeland and diaspora to be set out in more detail.
The participants agreed to meet for another meeting to discuss concrete ideas and ways to realise them.
