Taxes in 2022
"Paper receipt only at buyer's wish": Certain tax-related changes were introduced in 2022, including the abolition of the obligation to issue receipt for purchased goods or services in the paper form. (front page, 9)
Omicron variant spreading
"Fifth wave demanding new measures": As the omicron variant of coronavirus is raging in Europe, Slovenia is two to three weeks late in introducing measures to stem its spread, as the government is waiting for directions from professionals. (front page, 3)
Ahead of Winter Olympics
"More than in Pyeongchang, fewer than in Sochi": With the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing exactly one month away, Slovenians are looking to improve on the medal count (two) from Pyeongchang, while the record from Sochi in 2014 (eight) seems to be out of reach. (front page, 18)

"Why ski lifts are breaking down these days": Due to anti-epidemic measures, most Slovenians decided to ski in Slovenia over the holiday break, which resulted in long queues in front of ticket offices. There were some problems with ski lifts breaking down in Krvavec and Kranjska Gora. (front page, 7, commentary 12)
Investments in military
"They are not interested in cheaper American armoured vehicles": Slovenia will pay around EUR 412 million for 45 German Boxer armoured personnel carriers (APCs), while the US company General Dynamics European Land Systems has offered the Defence Ministry 48 Piranha APCs at a starting price of EUR 220 million. "What will be under scrutiny of inspectors this year": The paper announces that inspection services will start checking companies for eligibility for Covid aid, as well as online business, adherence to anti-epidemic measures, transfer prices, cash operations and undeclared employment. "Who is the candidate for new board member of SSH - who will be sought with an international call for applications": The custodian of state-owned assets will soon issue a call for applications for a third board member. Unofficial information suggests that the name has already been selected, so Finance wonders why waste money on headhunting. (front page, 4)
Energy crisis
"ABC raising network charge: how much we pay for it, who feeds from it": Two years ago, the government and the Energy Agency lowered contributions for the state on energy bill due to the epidemic; today, the director of the agency says that network charge "cannot be a social corrective." "He stabbed him in his sleep": Criminal police officers are looking for a 35-year-old who stabbed a man in Celje on Saturday. A stabbing incident also took place in a care home in Prebold, with the 64-year-old suspected attacker being apprehended. (front page, 13)

"Pahor's tenth year": After 22 December 2022, when the second and final terms of President Borut Pahor will end, Pahor intends to use the office of the former president for another year in line with law. (front page, 13)
