"Flat in Trieste for half the price of one in Ljubljana": A house with sea view and a garden in Trieste was sold last year for EUR 75,000 amid findings that some Slovenians purchase properties there as an investment. (front page, page 3)

Energy
"Right steps, but the vulnerable are still struggling": The government has adopted aid measures to mitigate the energy crisis. Some of them are a step in the right direction, but people on the margins will still struggle due to steep energy prices. (front page, page 2)

"Dream-like Slovenian final rehearsal for Beijing": Slovenian ski jumpers had a perfect last weekend before the Beijing Olympics, as Nika Križnar won, setting a Slovenian women's record, and Cene Prevc finished third in a men's event. (front page, pages 9, 12, 13)

Omicron
"Is the new variant indeed less of a threat to the elderly?": Infections continue to rise at an unprecedented pace, but the situation in hospitals is mostly stable, as the Omicron wave has so far not reached the most vulnerable among the elderly. (front page, page 2)

Italy
"Sergio Mattarella reluctantly remains president of Italy": After repeated fruitless attempts to come up with a new president, four coalition parties agreed to back incumbent Italian President Sergio Mattarella. (front page, page 5, commentary 12)

FINANCE

Pension system
"OECD proposes raising the retirement age and putting more money into supplementary pensions": The OECD is urging Slovenia to implement a pension reform that would make the relevant system easy to navigate, raise the retirement age to 62 for 42 years of service, and improve the supplementary pension scheme. Energy aid
"This is how govt would distribute EUR 200 million": The package adopted to mitigate the energy crisis will bring EUR 70 million for companies and lower excise duties on electricity and fuels, among other measures. (front page, pages 6, 7)

Pharma
"Krka with record figures last year, hundreds of jobs planned in Krško": Drug maker Krka's revenue rose by 2% in 2021, while profit increased by 5% year-on-year.
