Tourist Income Until End July US$ 667.8 Million

Ljubljana, 24 September - TOURISM/INCOME/BANK/SLOVENIA
Slovenia earned US$ 667.8 million with tourism in the first seven months of 1997, the same as last year. Stagnation is due to changed German mark/US dollar exchange rate, lower sales in duty free shops caused by Austria's restrictive measures for tobacco products and lower gasoline prices in Italy's border regions, the Chamber of Economy's Association for Tourist and Restaurant Service reported. At the same time, Slovenes spent SIT 311.2 million for travels abroad, up five percent from the first seven months of last year.
