Olympics
"Silver Sunday of the amazing Žan Kranjec": Slovenia's leading skier in the giant slalom Žan Kranjec won the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics, the sixth medal overall for Slovenia at these Olympic Games. (front page, pages 9, 10, 11)

Football
"Olimpija wins the eternal derby": Ljubljana's most famous football club Olimpija defeated 1:0 its biggest rival, Maribor, at the latest derby after beating another Slovenian high-profile club, Mura, last Wednesday. (front page, page 12)

Environment
"Ecological bomb in Ceršak": The largest composting plant in Slovenia with more than 100,000 tonnes of waste that is situated on an island on the river Mura may cause large-scale pollution under certain circumstances. Environment Minister Andrej Vizjak says he is aware of the issue and will take action. (front page, page 3)

Olympics
"Swishing down Ice River towards silver medal": Slovenia's skier Žan Kranjec finished second in the men's giant slalom at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, having conceded only to Switzerland's Marco Odermatt. (front page, page 15)

Roads
"Traffic jams close to pre-epidemic levels": The epidemic had reduced traffic in Ljubljana drastically for about a year, but in the second half of 2021 traffic in the capital started increasing again. "Unicorns that have grown with the help of the EU": More than EUR 1 billion has been set aside for innovative SMEs under the EIC Accelerator programme this year. Last year, EU investors were most interested in technologies and therapies in the health sector. (front page, pages 12, 13)

Growth forecast
"Slovenia's growth will be significantly lower than last year, as inflation will soar": The EU Commission has downgraded Slovenia's GDP growth for 2022 in its winter forecast, noting that inflation is expected to climb higher still. (front page, pages 2, 3)
