Since 2002, Mohorjeva Družba, the oldest Slovenian publisher, has been donating books to Slovenian organisations with the financial support of Austria. The EUR 50,000 donation was presented in the form of book vouchers at an event in Ljubljana by Austrian Ambassador to Slovenia Elisabeth Ellison-Kramer and the head of Mohorjeva Družba Ivan Olip.

This time around, the books will go to the Veneto region in north-eastern Italy, known for a strong Slovenian ethnic community. There are charities and schools among the recipients, including the Pavel Petričič Špeter school, which can look forward to new additions to its library.

Minister for Slovenians Abroad Helena Jaklitsch thanked the publisher for its efforts dedicated to Slovenian minority members and emigrants.

She noted that Mohorjeva Družba nurtured ties between Slovenians as well as preserved the Slovenian language and bolstered Slovenian identity, a press release by the Government Office for Slovenians Abroad reads.
