Minister talks with Slovenian community reps in Australia

Ljubljana, 30 June - Minister for Slovenians Abroad Matej Arčon held an online conference with the representatives of the Slovenian community in Australia on Thursday, the latest in a series of meeting with the representatives of Slovenian ethnic communities living around the world.

Arčon, who took over the department a month ago, presented his priorities to the community and invited them to take part in the European Culture Capital 2025 project, which focuses on cross-border cooperation and the life of minority communities.

"This will be an excellent opportunity for Slovenians from across the globe to show who they are and what they do," the minister was quoted as saying by the government Office for Slovenians Abroad.

He thanked the community representatives for their work and said he was happy to see the young generation participating in the community.

Apart from Arčon and his state secretary Vasna Humar, the conference included the representatives of Slovenian associations and organisation in Australia, as well as honorary consuls Mark Stariha and Adrian Vatovec.
