"US visit prompts ships and bombers": The visit by the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan was a step out of an equilibrium that has prompted China to react with military live-fire exercises. (front page, page 6)

Chip shortage
"Russia, chips and electrification": Most car makers bet on rationalisation and investment in electrification as the closure of the Russian market has had an impact and chip shortages have not yet ended. (front page, page 10)

"Will new taxes result in higher rents?": As property rental is expected to be taxed more heavily again next year, there are warnings that higher taxes will translate into higher rents. In addition to skyrocketing prices, the rental market is characterised by a lack of oversight and ineffective dispute resolution. (front page, page 3)

Abortion in US
"Voters defend the right to abortion in Kansas": Three-fifths of those who cast a vote in a referendum in the conservative US state of Kansas defended the right to abortion. Hotels
"Enough guests for all in summer, low season a problem": The new five-star hotel in Ljubljana has increased the number of rooms in the capital by 10%. "Demand for workers declines in July": The jobless total in July increased slightly month-on-month for the first time since January, but this was expected this time of year due to termination of fixed-term contracts. However, the demand for workers has declined as well. (front page, pages 8-9)
