Pixxelpoint art festival going cross-border again

Nova Gorica, 10 November - After staying within the borders of Slovenia during the pandemic, the 23rd Pixxelpoint festival of contemporary artistic practices, which starts in Nova Gorica on Thursday, will go across the border again, with some events to be held in Italy's Gorizia. The festival will run for more than two weeks and feature a number of workshops.

This year's festival, which will also take place in the Agore Gallery in the centre of Gorizia, brings new features, as a three-member jury will pick the best work featured at the festival and an award will be given out to its author.

"In order to bring this kind of art, intertwined with science and technology, to the broadest possible audience, this time we put great emphasis on cultural and educational programmes," said Pavla Jarc, the director of the Nova Gorica Culture Centre.

The head of the main venue of the festival noted that this year's iteration would offer as many as 16 workshops for all age groups, and that it would be the longest ever, taking place for more than two weeks, until 26 November.

The theme of this year's festival is Trust & Risk, as picked by the curator Nina Jeza. "Trust and risk as concepts are strongly related to each other. We take risks when we trust, and at the same time we cannot trust if we do not take risks."

The festival will feature a number of Slovenian and international artists, as well as students of the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the Academy of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica.
