Croatia's Schengen entry prompts change in illegal migration routes

Ljubljana, 28 March - Police apprehended over 5,000 foreigners who crossed into Slovenia illegally in January and February, a four-fold rise from the same period in 2022. However, since Croatia joined the Schengen area, illegal migrants have been arriving less often across the green border, preferring to opt for a bus or train, but smuggling still remains frequent.
