Migration
"Number of migrants from Croatia triples y/y": The upward trend in the number of illegal migrants continues at the start of 2023 as the figure tripled compared to the same period in 2022. Slovenian PM Robert Golob and his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković discussed migration at yesterday's meeting. (front page, page 3)

Pensions
"Defiance momentum decreasing": Anti-pension reform protests continue across France, but it seems they have lost some of their momentum since the number of demonstrators in Paris this week, some 450,000, almost halved compared to the week before. (front page, page 5)

Ski flying
"Bor to kick off Planica Nordic": The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Finals is about to begin in Planica with practice scheduled for today. Bor Pavlovčič will the first one to try out the famous Gorišek brothers' ski flying hill. (front page, page 16)

Slovenia-Croatia
"Slovenia - Croatia: Energy consensus, dissonance regarding fishermen": Slovenia and Croatia would like to strengthen cooperation regarding energy and migration, but when it comes to border issues and Croatia-issued fines for Slovenian fishermen the countries' PMs, as expected, did not find common ground at yesterday's meeting. "Minister Bešič Loredan threatens resignation": The disagreement between the Strategic Council for Healthcare and the Health Ministry has reached the point where state secretaries threatened Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan would step down if there is no agreement on the starting points for the public health insurer ZZZS reform. Ljubljana
"Number of parking spots down": The number of parking spaces in the planned car park underneath the central market in Ljubljana had to be reduced from 515 to 297. (front page, page 8)

Healthcare
"Huge profits and poor accessibility in health centres": Health centres are making profit, but their primary aim should be to provide quality and accessible health care. For example, the Ljubljana health centre failed to do this last year despite being in the black. (front page, pages 2, 3)
