Trieste-based minority choir honoured for its efforts
GORIZIA, Italy - The Trieste-based Partisan Choir Pinko Tomažič, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, was honoured for its contribution to community-strengthening efforts regarding the Slovenian minority in Italy, the Office for Slovenians Abroad said. The choir was awarded a special recognition at a May Day celebration in San Floriano del Collio on Monday also in honour of its efforts to preserve and strengthen Slovenian culture abroad.
Hockey star Anže Kopitar to give World Championship a miss
LOS ANGELES, US - Slovenia's Anže Kopitar, captain of the NHL team Los Angeles Kings and two-time Stanley Cup winner, will not play for Slovenia at the upcoming 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship, the 35-year-old announced not long after his team was knocked out of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. Taking into account his age and a few minor injuries, Kopitar decided to rest now to achieve a full recovery and start preparing for the new NHL season soon.
