Steklarna Hrastnik launches digitalisation project
Hrastnik, 19 May - Steklarna Hrastnik glassworks has launched a EUR 4.6 million project to digitalise production. General director Peter Čas said that the funds will enable his company to go digital in several fields: in innovation, organisation, and management of operations and markets.
The company will introduce new and upgrade existing technologies and applications, as well as new business models for different markets. It will also develop machine learning models to optimise production.
The project will allow Steklarna Hrastnik to apply big data solutions and innovative methodologies, upgrade operating cost, improve digital competence of staff, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and shorten the time it takes to launch new products.
Apart from Steklarna Hrastnik, the consortium includes Logix, ITS, Mikrocop, Solvera Lynx, Comsensus, MeiaInteractive Franc Dolenc, Meta Smart Factory, RCR and Analitica.
They applied for the funds last year, receiving EUR 2.2 million to co-fund the project dubbed Comprehensive Digital Transformation in Glassworks Industry (Cedit.si).
Attending the launch on Friday, Economy Minister Matjaž Han said the ministry had given out EUR 85 million in grants and vouchers in the past three years for 1,900 digitalisation projects. He said digitalisation was a key priority of the ministry.
In total, the ministry approved 23 applications by consortia worth EUR 43.8 million as part of the call for bids for digital transformation. The figure included state and EU funds from the EU recovery and resilience facility.
