Novartis to launch EUR 111 million investment next week

Mengeš, 27 June - The Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis will launch next week a EUR 111 million investment project to build a new development centre for biopharmaceuticals in Mengeš. The centre is expected to generate some 100 jobs, with Prime Minister Robert Golob expected to deliver the keynote at the event next Wednesday.

Novartis has said that the centre will create new development capacities, including clinical production for the support to early phases of biopharmaceutical clinical trials.

"The investment in Slovenia complements Novartis's global investment in the development of next generation biopharmaceuticals," the company said.

"With this, the company will have created a scientific environment which will strengthen the capacities of early technical development of biopharmaceuticals."

The investment strengthens the role of Novartis's Slovenian branch as one of the multinational's key development sites for innovative biopharmaceuticals, the press release also said.
