Children charity calls for neonatal screening for spinal muscular atrophy

Ljubljana, 28 June - A charity dedicated to helping children with rare diseases called for neonatal screening for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) on International Neonatal Screening Day, observed on Wednesday. In Slovenia, children with some rare, fatal diseases, for which drugs are available, currently receive treatment only after presenting symptoms.
