Reading literacy
"If adults don't read, kids won't either": After the latest PIRLS study showed a disastrous decline in the reading literacy of Slovenian fourth-graders, an action plan for improvement is to be adopted in the autumn. (front page, page 4)

Fuel retailers
"MOL remaining owner of Croatian INA": Hungarian oil company MOL is no longer considering withdrawing from Croatia's INA, Peter Ratatics, executive director for consumer services at MOL and INA management board president, tells Delo in an interview after MOL became the second largest fuel retailer in Slovenia in partnership with INA. Tour de France
"Macron applauds Pogačar": Slovenian cycling champion Tadej Pogačar came back big style to win the 6th stage of the Tour de France, for which he got applause from French President Emmanuel Macron. He is now in second overall, only 25 seconds behind Danish rival Jonas Vingegaard. (front page, page 18)

"Mandatory health contribution for all": MPs have endorsed a bill transforming supplementary health insurance into a mandatory health contribution. (front page, page 2)

"Judges and prosecutors to get substantial pay rise": Judges and prosecutors will benefit from a substantial increase in base pay and a bonus for incompatible office restrictions under a deal reached with the government, which still needs to be enacted by parliament. EU funding
"Municipality owes EUR 850,000": The Maribor municipality has to repay EUR 603,000 in EU funds and refund partners for costs amounting to another 246,000 because it has failed to carry out a circular economy project. (front page, page 14)
