Nova Gorica/Miren, 14 July - A year after devastating wildfires broke out in Kras on 15 July, scorching 3,700 hectares of land, the southwestern region is slowly recovering as volunteers, companies and other organizations help in reforestation campaigns. Some 18,000 trees had been planted by March, but more importantly, the disaster prompted several long overdue debates.
