Work from home here to stay, unions warn of pitfalls
LJUBLJANA - The number of people working from home decreased in Slovenia this year to about a fifth of the level seen in 2021, but the figures are still 20 times higher than in pre-Covid 2019. Legislative measures to simplify the bureaucracy around work from home are in the pipeline, but unions are also pointing to pitfalls. Labour Inspectorate data shows that there were nearly 44,000 people working from home in the first half of this year.
Slovenia faces challenges in expanding EV charging network
LJUBLJANA - In line with the new European regulation, Slovenia will have to ensure 16 to 20 high-capacity charging points for electric vehicles along motorways. Since none of the current stations can provide sufficient capacity, the country faces the challenge of increasing the capacity of the charging network or setting up new charging stations, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy has told the STA.
Following hot car death, review shows caseworker should have done more
LJUBLJANA/VELENJE - A review at a local Social Services unit that was launched after a toddler died in an overheated car in June showed that the staff did not have enough information to initiate relevant proceedings before the child's death, however the social worker in charge of the case should have insisted on contacting the child's mother, news portal 24ur.com reported on Friday.
Forma Viva park in Kostanjevica gets new monumental sculptures
KOSTANJEVICA NA KRKI - Two new sculptures created at the 30th Forma Viva international sculptors' workshop, held in Kostanjevica na Krki, were put on display to wrap up the month-long event. Organised within the framework of the Božidar Jakac Gallery, Forma Viva this year hosted Slovenian and Croatian sculptors Tomaž Furlan and Alem Korkut.
