"In the last nearly 50 hours, more than 20,000 consumers were without electricity, but now that number has dropped to 1,836," the minister said in the wake of devastating floods in the country.

The situation is worst in the Mežica Valley, in Črna na Koroškem, Prevalje, in the Savinja valley, parts of Ljubljana and in the Gorenjska region, he said.

Regarding gas supply, he said that the distribution and transmission system is functioning flawlessly, with the exception of the upper Savinja Valley and parts of Koroška, where the situation is being addressed.

"I'm confident that mobile emergency transformer stations and electricity supply will be secured in a few days. At the same time, we are preparing measures and special teams to inspect electrical installations so that consumers can safely reconnect to the grid," he stated.

As the field teams are still working on clearing the aftermath of the disaster and power outages, the extent of the damage cannot be assessed yet. The costs will be covered by the distributors, which were praised by the minister for their dedicated efforts. Kumer added companies that are cooperating well with each other, exchanging equipment and teams.
