Google turns on SOS Alert notification system for Slovenia
Ljubljana, 9 August - The tech giant Google has turned on its SOS Alerts notifications system for Slovenia in the wake of devastating floods that hit the country.
When users type the word flood in English or Slovenian into the search engine, they can see a red flood alert at the top of the page, followed by a map showing affected areas, as well as general and local information. The actual search results follow below.
The local info segment provides links to a government-operated website with incident updates, the flood repair website set up for better management of volunteer aid, and the national road traffic website.
In addition to providing useful and credible information, Google is also following updates from the government and updating its maps with road closures across the country, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said in a press release.
