Von der Leyen visits
"400 million euro in aid to Slovenia": European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited flood-stricken areas of Slovenia to announce that the country will get EUR 400 million from the EU Solidarity Fund in 2023 and 2024. She said that it was a national and European tragedy as she was able to see the magnitude of the devastation in person. (front page, 2-5, 9, 14)

Flood damage in culture
"Flooded cultural heritage": Many buildings housing cultural institutions and cultural heritage sites have been badly damaged by the recent storms and floods. The situation is the worst in Gorenjska (NW), Koroška and Savinja Valley in the north. Damage is still being assessed. (front page, 17)

Flood relief
"Road is key for repairs after the apocalypse": The floods have washed away more than half a kilometre of the state road towards Luče in the north, which lies on the confluence of the Savinja and Lučnica rivers. An alternative access road has been cleared, but the road infrastructure needs to be repaired as soon as possible. (front page, 4)

Flood relief
"Multi-year procedures even under dream scenario": While local communities are primarily responsible for the people who have lost their homes in the floods, the government has announced that substitute buildings would be constructed for them. But it will probably take years before such buildings get built. (front page, 2)

Parking in Ljubljana
"Spectators park on Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship": More than a hundred visitors of Tuesday's basketball and football matches in the Stožice Sports Park in Ljubljana parked their cars illegally in the park adjacent to Žale Cemetery and even the nearby section of the Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship. (front page, 8)

Flood relief
"Measures for companies, furlough, annual leave for volunteers explained": People who are taking part in the flood relief efforts are expected to get their wages reimbursed under the provisions related to force majeure and furlough, while the amount of untaxed solidarity aid will also be higher. (front page, 2-5)

Electricity
"No millions from Ugljevik. Where is the holdup?": RTE Ugljevik, the operator of the eponymous coal-fired power plant in Bosnia-Herzegovina, has failed to pay the Slovenian energy group HSE the EUR 67 million in damages it has been awarded in an arbitration. Representatives of the company visited Slovenia to reach an agreement on further talks - the power plant supposedly does not have this kind of money. (front page, 8)

Flood relief
"Important aid from EU": Ursula von der Leyen got emotional as she visited yesterday the flood-stricken Črna na Koroškem, saying it was a national and European tragedy. The European Commission president announced that Slovenia will get EUR 400 million from the EU Solidarity Fund - EUR 100 million this year and EUR 300 million in 2024. (front page, 2-3)

Flood damage
"To persevere or to move elsewhere": "I don't know what to do. To refurbish everything only for a few years, because you never know when it will strike again. It doesn't make sense", the owner of a damaged home has told Večer's mobile team as it visited flood-hit areas. (front page, 19)

Communication
"Šestan most convincing": Experts have assessed that Prime Minister Robert Golob' communication with the public during the flood crisis has been good. Civil Protection commander Srečko Šestan is the face that inspires the most trust. (front page, 2-3)

Maribor stadium
"Ljudski Vrt Stadium for concerts?": The spectacular opening ceremony for the recent European Youth Olympic Festival in Maribor has reminded the locals that Ljudski Vrt Stadium could host various events. The paper looks at logistic challenges and costs. (front page, 14-15)

UEFA Conference League
"Going to Istanbul for surprise": The Maribor football club will open their third qualifying round for the third-tier UEFA Conference League in Istanbul against the favoured Fenerbahce. "Our goals is to match them in every segments of the game," said head coach Damir Krznar. (front page, 10)
